This adventure is suitable for
travelers who live an active lifestyle, enjoy good health
and mobility, are comfortable participating in 6 to 8 hours
of daily physical activities and sightseeing and able to walk
3 miles unassisted over the course of each day.
Day 1: (Arrival-San
Jose)
Arrival. A representative from Travel in Paradise CR will
meet you at the airport and provide transfer to a nice mountain
lodge near San Jose.
Day 2 (Pacuare
white water rafting trip) B, L
The adventure today starts with a trip to the Pacuare River.
Depart from San José, driving approximately 3 hours
to the put in, with breakfast en route. At the put in you'll
rig your raft and begin the journey downriver. River time:
approximately 4 hours depending on the water level. Enjoy
your lunch on the riverbank before the afternoon take out
at which time you can shower and change into dry clothes.
Return to San José. Overnight at mountain lodge.
Day 3 (San Jose
- Tortuguero) B, L, D
Pick up at the hotel and provide transfer to the local airport
in San Jose. Take local flight to Tortuguero National Park
on our north Caribbean side. One of Costa Rica’s most
popular ecotourism destinations, the Canals and rivers of
Tortuguero National Park are a study in rainforest, freshwater
and marine biology. The park and small town of Tortuguero
can only be accessed by boat or small aircraft. Considered
one of the world’s major nesting sites for the Atlantic
green turtle, you can see these great creatures between July
and October.
Day 4 (Tortuguero)

During the day you will enjoy the boat rides and hikes in
the tropical rainforest guided by a local naturalist leader.
Day 5 (Tortuguero-Arenal)
(B, L)
Depart after breakfast for your return to the docks of Limón,
continue to Arenal Volcano and Fortuna area. Lunch enroute.
One of the most active volcanoes of the world, cloud forests,
a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse
population of wildlife is what you will find in this area.
The flawless silhouette of the Arenal Volcano, its rumblings
and frequent flows of incandescent material are a sight not
to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica.
Day 6 (Hike
to Arenal Volcano National Park) (B)
Our Arenal Volcano hike through the rainforest is one of the
best ways to experience the mighty "Mountain of Fire."
Hike through the diverse flora and fauna to the famous lava
wall where you will walk on lava rocks from ancient times.
Your expert guide will explain the geologic factors involved
along with stories built around the activity of this famous
volcano.
Day 7 (Arenal
– Pacific Beach, in Guanacaste) (B)
Private transfer will be provided
to a beach on the Pacific. Approximate driving time: 4 hrs.
Both nature and beach lovers will find plenty here to fill
their days. Guanacaste is famous for its stunning beaches,
its marine national park and wildlife refuge. This area encompasses
beaches that attract one of the largest leatherback turtle
populations in the world. Peak nesting seasons in the area
are October through January. Due to its constant waves, it
is also one of the favorite places for surfers.
Day 8 - 9 (at the beach) (B)
Enjoy the beach at your leisure. There are many tours available
from this area, depending on your interests and activity level.
Day 10 (Return
to San Jose and departure back home) (B)
Take a morning local flight back to San Jose. Upon arrival
transfer will be provided to the International airport for
your departure flight. End of services.
